The Thermal Grizzly WireView 90 Pro GPU is an advanced device designed for precise power consumption measurement and enhanced safety for your graphics card. Developed in collaboration with Jon “elmor” Sandström, this Pro version integrates connector detection, multiple temperature sensors, and an acoustic alarm, all displayed on a clear OLED screen. Its innovative 90-degree reverse design optimizes cable routing, providing a cleaner and safer setup for high-performance GPUs.
Advanced Power Monitoring and Data Analysis:
The 90° WireView Pro GPU offers comprehensive power consumption measurement and recording capabilities via the 12VHPWR power connector. This allows users to accurately track energy usage, calculate GPU power costs, and compare consumption across different graphics cards. A unique 60-second measurement cycle provides a quick and convenient display of recent power consumption, ideal for hardware reviews and performance analysis. Furthermore, the device detects power peaks, which are common during intense operation with high-end graphics cards, providing crucial insights into system stability and power delivery.
Real-time Data Display:
The integrated OLED screen provides instant access to critical performance metrics. A simple button press cycles through various displayed values, ensuring you have all the necessary information at your fingertips for informed decision-making and troubleshooting.
- Current Power Consumption: Displays real-time power in watts (W).
- Current Voltage & Amperage: Shows current voltage in volts (V) and current in amperes (A).
- Min/Max Power Consumption: Records minimum and maximum power consumption in watts (W).
- Average Power Consumption: Calculates average power over 60 seconds (RAVG in W) and total energy consumption (E in WH).
- Measured Temperatures: Displays readings from each internal and external temperature sensor in Celsius (°C).
Enhanced Safety and Compatibility Features:
The Pro version of the WireView GPU incorporates advanced safety features to protect your valuable hardware. Connector detection, multiple temperature sensors, and an acoustic alarm system work in tandem to provide crucial warnings against potential issues, ensuring peace of mind during demanding workloads. It’s important to note that the 90° WireView Pro only measures power consumption via the power connector and does not account for additional power drawn through the PCIe slot.
Intelligent Connector Detection:
The 90° WireView Pro GPU intelligently determines the power rating of the connected 12VHPWR cable (150W, 300W, 450W, or 600W). If an incorrect cable is used or a loose connection is detected, an immediate acoustic alarm will sound, preventing potential damage to your components.
Comprehensive Temperature Monitoring:
Two internal temperature sensors are strategically placed on the PCB at the power connectors to monitor heat buildup, especially critical when up to 600W of power flows through these points. If a preset temperature threshold is exceeded, an acoustic alarm triggers. Additionally, two external 10K NTC temperature sensors (5 cm and 20 cm cable lengths included) can be connected, offering even more comprehensive thermal oversight. The alarm can also be triggered if an adjustable current limit (amperage) is surpassed.
Optimized 90° Reverse Cable Routing:
This “Reverse” version of the 90° WireView Pro GPU is specifically designed for graphics cards where the 12 power pins are positioned between the PCB and the four sensor pins (PCB – 12x power pins – 4x sensor pin). It functions as a 90-degree adapter, allowing the PSU connection cable to route neatly downward towards the case floor when the GPU is horizontally mounted. This eliminates the need for U-shaped adapters that route cables over the GPU’s backplate, resulting in a cleaner aesthetic and improved airflow within your PC case.
Important Compatibility Notice:
Due to its specific design, the 90° WireView Pro is not universally compatible with all graphics card models and series. Factors such as cooler size and the precise position of the 12VHPWR connector on the GPU’s PCB can influence compatibility. This also applies when switching to a water block cooling solution. Thermal Grizzly provides a detailed compatibility list under the Downloads tab on their official product page. For unlisted graphics cards, Thermal Grizzly offers a free unit for compatibility testing to expand their list.
Warning: Risk of Injury!
Depending on the graphics card, especially with high-power models like the GeForce RTX 5090, up to 575W of power can flow through the WireView connectors. This can cause the PCB temperature at the WireView connector to reach 60°C on air-cooled GPUs and up to 100°C on water-cooled GPUs without sufficient airflow. Avoid touching the WireView casing during operation and allow it to cool down after shutting down the system before handling.
