Egypt’s 100GB Home Internet Package: What Changed in November 2026?

The entry-level fixed-line plan has doubled its monthly data allowance without a higher base subscription price. Here is what the decision covers — and what it does not change for PC gamers.

THE QUICK READ · VERIFIED DETAILS
Bottom line: From 1 November 2026, the EGP 150 basic fixed-line internet package is set to provide 100GB instead of 50GB per month, with no increase to the stated base subscription. This applies to the specified entry-level fixed broadband package — not every internet plan, mobile data package or wireless home-internet offer.

What exactly changed?

Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) issued implementation instructions to fixed-line internet providers to double the data allowance of the basic EGP 150 monthly package from 50GB to 100GB. The announced effective date was 1 November 2026. The regulator’s instruction concerns the data allowance, while the base subscription price remains unchanged.

For customers, the practical headline is simple: eligible subscribers receive twice the monthly data allowance at the same stated base price. A report published on 31 October put the VAT-inclusive amount at EGP 171, compared with the EGP 150 pre-tax subscription price. Check your provider’s bill and account screen for the exact amount charged to your line.

Who is eligible — and who is not covered?

The announcement concerns the specific entry-level fixed broadband package priced at EGP 150 before VAT. It should not be read as a blanket doubling of every package in Egypt.

  • Included: the named basic fixed-line internet package, subject to provider implementation.
  • Not announced as included: higher-tier fixed broadband packages, mobile data bundles or wireless home-internet packages.
  • What to check: the package name, monthly allowance and renewal details shown in your ISP app or customer account.
Important distinction: 100GB is a data allowance, not a speed upgrade. The announcement does not promise higher Mbps, lower ping, more stable Wi-Fi or extra in-game FPS.

What does this mean for PC gamers?

A larger monthly allowance can make it easier to manage game downloads, patches, cloud backups and other household internet use — especially when several people share one connection. It does not, by itself, improve the quality of the connection while a game is running.

Data allowance and gaming performance are different things

  • Data allowance: how much data can be transferred during the billing cycle before the provider’s package rules apply.
  • Download speed: how quickly a file can arrive, usually measured in Mbps or MB/s.
  • Ping and latency: how long data takes to travel between your PC and the game server.
  • Stability: whether the connection experiences jitter, packet loss or interruptions.

If your game feels delayed, a larger data cap is unlikely to solve the cause. Our guide to Ethernet vs Wi-Fi for gaming explains why a wired connection, router placement and local interference can matter more to consistency than the monthly quota.

What should subscribers do now?

  1. Open your provider’s app or account portal and confirm the exact package name.
  2. Check whether the monthly allowance is displayed as 100GB after the 1 November implementation date.
  3. Review the next renewal amount and whether VAT or optional services appear separately.
  4. If the allowance still appears as 50GB, contact your provider and ask when the change will be reflected on your line.

Does this mean Egypt’s internet is faster?

Not necessarily. The announcement changes the monthly data allowance for one specified package. It does not state that the line’s access speed, network capacity, Wi-Fi coverage or routing to international game servers has changed. Those factors depend on the subscribed speed tier, line technology, home equipment, network conditions and the destination server.
