Gigabyte B850 A Stealth Socket AM5 DDR5 ATX Motherboard
GIGABYTE B850 AORUS STEALTH is an ATX motherboard for AMD Socket AM5 with the AMD B850 chipset. It features a reverse-connector design that routes power and data cables behind the motherboard tray. Because of this layout, the front of the board stays clean and cable management becomes easier. In addition, it includes a 14+2+2 twin digital VRM, DDR5 support up to 8200 MT/s (OC), a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, four M.2 slots, 5GbE LAN, and Wi-Fi 7. Available at Alfrensia for 14,399 EGP.
⚡ Engineering Highlights at a Glance:
- Reverse-Connector STEALTH Design: Power and data connectors sit on the back of the board, so the front stays clean and cable routing becomes simpler .
- 14+2+2 Twin Digital VRM: 14 Vcore phases at 80A SPS each, two SoC phases, and two miscellaneous phases for stable power delivery .
- DDR5 Support up to 8200 MT/s (OC): Four DIMM slots support up to 256GB with AMD EXPO and XMP profiles .
- PCIe 5.0 x16 with UD Slot: One PCIe 5.0 x16 slot with stainless-steel shielding, plus a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for expansion .
- Four M.2 Slots: Two PCIe 5.0 x4 slots and two PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, with M.2 Thermal Guard L and Ext. covers .
- 5GbE LAN + Wi-Fi 7: Realtek 5GbE LAN and Realtek Wi-Fi 7 (RTL8922AE) with Bluetooth 5.4 .
- X3D Turbo Mode: One-click BIOS activation that can boost gaming performance on Ryzen 9000 series processors .
Reverse-Connector STEALTH Design
GIGABYTE introduced reverse-connector motherboards in 2022 under the STEALTH name. Because this design moves power and data connectors to the back of the board, the visible side has fewer cables crossing the surface. As a result, the build looks cleaner, and airflow improves because cables do not block the path between fans. However, this design requires a compatible chassis with a cutout behind the motherboard tray. Therefore, verify your case supports Project STEALTH or reverse-connector layouts before purchasing.
Power Delivery and Thermal Design
The board uses a 14+2+2 twin digital VRM design with 80A SPS power stages for the Vcore, SoC, and miscellaneous phases. Because the design uses a 7+7 parallel power layout, the Vcore phases split the current load across two groups. In addition, a 6-layer mid-loss PCB with 2X Copper maintains stable power delivery during sustained loads. The VRM cooling uses full-metal Thermal Armor Advanced heatsinks with a direct-touch heatpipe and a 7 W/mK thermal pad. Meanwhile, the M.2 slots use Thermal Guard L and Thermal Guard Ext. covers. The M.2 EZ-Flex design provides a flexible baseplate that improves contact between the SSD and heatsink, and GIGABYTE claims it reduces SSD temperatures by up to 12°C.
Connectivity and Expansion
The B850 AORUS STEALTH offers solid connectivity for a mid-range board. Networking is handled by a Realtek 5GbE LAN chip and Realtek Wi-Fi 7 (RTL8922AE) with Bluetooth 5.4. The rear I/O includes one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports. For storage, the board provides two SATA 6Gb/s ports and four M.2 slots. In addition, one internal USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C header is available for front-panel connections. The expansion slots include one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot with UD Slot reinforcement and one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.
Who is the B850 AORUS STEALTH For?
Expert Advice & Build Considerations
Reverse-Connector Chassis Required
Because the B850 AORUS STEALTH uses a reverse-connector layout, you need a chassis with a cutout behind the motherboard tray. Standard ATX cases without this cutout will not work. Therefore, verify your case supports Project STEALTH before purchasing. GIGABYTE publishes a chassis support list on its website .
PCIe and M.2 Bandwidth Sharing
The PCIEX4 slot shares bandwidth with the M2D_SB connector. As a result, the PCIEX4 slot becomes unavailable when you install a device in M2D_SB. In addition, the M2B_CPU connector becomes unavailable when you use an AMD Ryzen 8000 Series Phoenix 2 processor .
📐 Memory and BIOS Setup
To reach DDR5-8200 (OC), enable AMD EXPO or XMP in the BIOS. Because the memory controller sits in the CPU, actual stable speeds depend on your specific processor and the number of DIMMs installed. The board includes DriverBIOS, which pre-installs the Wi-Fi driver so you can connect to the network on first boot without downloading drivers from another device.

Expert Recommendation: Getting the Most from Your B850 AORUS STEALTH
Before purchasing, confirm that your chassis supports reverse-connector motherboards. Because the B850 AORUS STEALTH routes cables behind the tray, a standard case without the matching cutout will not work. Once installed, enable AMD EXPO in the BIOS to reach your memory kit’s rated speed. For gaming, activate X3D Turbo Mode, which can improve frame rates on Ryzen 9000 series processors. Plan your M.2 layout carefully: the M2B_CPU slot is unavailable on Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 2 processors, and the PCIEX4 slot disables when you populate M2D_SB. For storage, the M.2 EZ-Latch Click and Plus designs allow tool-free SSD installation. Use the DriverBIOS feature to connect to Wi-Fi on first boot without needing a separate driver download. If you plan to use the front USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C header, confirm your case has a matching front-panel cable.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a reverse-connector motherboard, and do I need a special case?
A reverse-connector motherboard moves power and data connectors to the back of the board. As a result, the front stays clean and cable routing becomes easier. However, this design requires a chassis with a cutout behind the motherboard tray. Check GIGABYTE’s chassis support list before purchasing.
Does the B850 AORUS STEALTH support Ryzen 9000 series processors?
Yes. The board supports AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series processors on the AM5 socket. In addition, update to the latest BIOS for best compatibility and to enable X3D Turbo Mode.
How many M.2 slots does this motherboard have?
The board has four M.2 slots. Two are PCIe 5.0 x4 slots (M2A_CPU and M2B_CPU), and two are PCIe 4.0 x4 slots (M2C_SB and M2D_SB). Note that M2B_CPU becomes unavailable when you use a Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 2 processor.
Does the board have Wi-Fi 7?
Yes. The B850 AORUS STEALTH includes Realtek Wi-Fi 7 (RTL8922AE) with support for 2.4/5/6 GHz bands and Bluetooth 5.4. Wi-Fi 7 features require Windows 11 SV3 to function properly.
What warranty does this motherboard come with?
Alfrensia provides a 3-year local warranty on the GIGABYTE B850 AORUS STEALTH. Keep your purchase invoice for warranty claims, because it is required for service.
