Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse — Black
Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED is a wireless gaming mouse built around the HERO optical sensor (200–12,000 DPI). In addition, it delivers LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz wireless with a 1 ms report rate, 6 programmable buttons, and up to 250 hours of battery life from a single AA battery. Consequently, it suits competitive gamers and professionals who want wired-like performance without a cable. Therefore, it also fits productivity workflows.
In short: this is a wireless, right-handed gaming mouse with the HERO optical sensor (200–12,000 DPI), LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz wireless, 6 programmable buttons, and 250-hour battery life from one AA battery.
Best suited to: competitive gamers and professionals who want wireless performance without latency, plus the convenience of replaceable AA batteries.
One caveat to check first: a free USB-A port is required for the LIGHTSPEED receiver; no Bluetooth fallback is offered, and the shape is right-handed only.
Why Choose the Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED?
- For precision work, the HERO sensor covers 200–12,000 DPI with 400+ IPS and zero smoothing, filtering, or acceleration.
- To free yourself from cables, LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz delivers a 1 ms report rate for wired-like responsiveness.
- Because downtime matters, a single AA battery provides up to 250 hours with an indicator light at 15% remaining.
- At just 99 g, the mouse stays lightweight and maneuverable through long sessions.
- Six programmable buttons handle complex bindings, and each one is rated for 10 million clicks.
- When you travel, the nano receiver stores inside the mouse — no risk of losing the dongle.
Inside the G305 LIGHTSPEED
Two core technologies shape the G305 LIGHTSPEED experience: the HERO sensor for tracking precision, and the LIGHTSPEED protocol for wireless responsiveness. Each is covered below.
HERO Sensor Precision
The HERO optical sensor delivers class-leading performance with up to 10× the power efficiency of previous generations. As a result, tracking remains exceptionally accurate and consistent from 200 to 12,000 DPI. In addition, the sensor operates with zero smoothing, filtering, or acceleration across the full range. Moreover, it retains this precision during rapid movement changes.
LIGHTSPEED Wireless Architecture
The LIGHTSPEED protocol delivers a 1 ms report rate for wired-like responsiveness without cable tethering. Moreover, the built-in nano receiver storage makes the G305 a practical travel companion. Consequently, the mouse works equally well for gaming laptops and desktop workstations. In practice, users report no perceptible difference from a wired mouse.

Purchase Guidance
Before buying, confirm that the G305 LIGHTSPEED matches your system and grip. The two sub-sections below cover compatibility and buyer fit.
Compatibility & Limitations
Please read before purchase. The G305 LIGHTSPEED requires a free USB-A port for the LIGHTSPEED nano receiver. It does not support Bluetooth, so devices without USB-A (such as some ultrabooks) will need an adapter.
System & Platform Support
The G305 LIGHTSPEED works across the three major desktop operating systems. However, wireless connectivity is provided exclusively through the LIGHTSPEED USB receiver.
- Operating systems: Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.13 or later, Chrome OS.
- Connection: LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz wireless via USB nano receiver.
- Bluetooth: Not supported.
- Wireless range: Up to 10 m (33 ft).
Hand Orientation & Grip
Because the shape is moulded for the right hand, left-handed users should look elsewhere. In addition, the compact dimensions suit small-to-medium hands better than large ones.
- Hand orientation: Right-handed only.
- Dimensions: 116.6 × 62.15 × 38.2 mm.
- Weight: 99 g with battery (75 g without).
Who Should Buy — and Who Should Not
Buying confidence depends on matching the mouse to your grip, connectivity, and battery preferences. Therefore, the two lists below help you decide quickly.
Buy this if you…
- Latency-free wireless performance tops your list of priorities.
- Replaceable AA batteries appeal more than built-in rechargeable cells.
- Long runtime matters — up to 250 hours, or 9 months in Endurance mode.
- A compact, lightweight design at 99 g fits your grip style.
- Meanwhile, your desktop or laptop has a free USB-A port.
Skip this if you…
- Bluetooth connectivity matters, because the G305 has none.
- Rechargeable batteries suit you better than disposable AA cells.
- Additional programmable buttons beyond six are essential.
- Left-handed use is required — this mouse is right-handed only.
- Finally, large hands need a full-size ergonomic shape.

Pro Tip: Endurance Mode
Switch to Endurance mode in Logitech G HUB to extend battery life from 250 hours to up to 9 months for standard daily use. However, Endurance mode reduces the report rate to 8 ms — still responsive for productivity, but noticeably slower than the 1 ms competitive rate.
