The Shure Nexadyne 2 (NXN2) is a supercardioid dynamic kick-drum microphone designed to capture low-end weight and beater attack while reducing unwanted off-axis sound. Its contoured EQ is built into the microphone design, and the separated swivel joint and XLR output help reduce cable strain during setup and teardown.

Key Features

  • Kick-drum voicing: Shure describes a full-spectrum sound with deep low-end and high-frequency attack definition.
  • Supercardioid pickup: A focused directional pattern designed to reduce off-axis spill from sources such as toms and hi-hats.
  • Contoured EQ: Built into the microphone design to reduce the need for corrective equalization in many setups.
  • Dual-engine transducer design: Part of Shure’s Nexadyne dynamic microphone family architecture.
  • Swivel joint and XLR output: The separated joint and output design help reduce cable strain.
  • Compact black finish: Designed to sit discreetly inside a kick-drum setup.

Who Should Consider It?

This microphone is intended for drummers, live-sound engineers and recording setups that need a dedicated kick-drum microphone with a supercardioid pattern. Its voicing is aimed at capturing low-end body and attack definition while controlling spill from nearby drum sources.
