Who is the UGREEN DP120 For?
Expert Advice & Build Considerations
Verify Both Ends Support DisplayPort 1.4
To achieve 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 240Hz, both the source device (GPU) and the display must support DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC (Display Stream Compression). If either end is limited to DisplayPort 1.2, the cable will fall back to lower resolution or refresh rate limits. The cable itself is backward compatible, but the maximum performance is determined by the weaker endpoint.
DisplayPort vs. HDMI
DisplayPort is the preferred interface for PC monitors because it supports higher refresh rates and daisy-chaining via MST (Multi-Stream Transport). HDMI has broader consumer device support, but for gaming monitors running 144Hz or higher at 1440p or 4K, DisplayPort is typically the better choice. This cable is DisplayPort to DisplayPort, not DisplayPort to HDMI.
📐 Cable Length and Routing
The 2-meter length works for most desk setups where the PC sits under or beside the desk. The nylon braided jacket resists tangling and abrasion, while the aluminum alloy housing helps dissipate heat during long sessions. The connectors feature a latching mechanism to prevent accidental disconnection.

Expert Recommendation: Choosing the Right DisplayPort Cable
Before buying, confirm that both your GPU and your monitor support DisplayPort 1.4. If your monitor is limited to DisplayPort 1.2, this cable will still work, but you will not reach 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 240Hz. For gaming at 1440p 240Hz or 4K 144Hz, this cable provides sufficient bandwidth. The 2-meter length suits most desk layouts; if your PC is farther from the monitor, consider a longer cable to avoid tension on the connectors. The latching connectors prevent accidental disconnection, but remember to press the release tab before unplugging to avoid damaging the port. For multi-monitor setups, DisplayPort MST daisy-chaining may require monitors that support it; check your monitor’s documentation before relying on that feature.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this cable support 8K at 60Hz?
Yes, the UGREEN DP120 supports 8K (7680 x 4320) at 60Hz, provided both your source device and display support DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC.
Is this cable backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.2?
Yes. The cable is backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 devices. However, the maximum resolution and refresh rate will be limited by the DisplayPort 1.2 specification on the connected device.
What is the maximum refresh rate at 4K and 1440p?
The cable supports 3840×2160 at 240Hz and 2560×1440 at 240Hz, subject to the capabilities of the connected GPU and monitor.
Does the cable support HDR?
Yes, the cable supports dynamic HDR for compatible content and displays, improving contrast and color depth compared to standard dynamic range.
Is this a DisplayPort to HDMI cable?
No. This is a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. Both ends are DisplayPort male connectors. If you need to connect a DisplayPort source to an HDMI display, you will need an active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter or cable.
