1M vs. 2M — Choose Based on Distance

This 1-meter variant is ideal when the source and display are close. If your PC sits on the floor or on a separate desk from your monitor, measure the actual run distance plus a small service loop before choosing. A cable that is too short puts tension on the connectors and can damage the port. If in doubt, the 2-meter DP120 is the safer choice.

Verify Both Ends Support DisplayPort 1.4

To achieve 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 240Hz, both the source device (GPU) and the display must support DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC (Display Stream Compression). If either end is limited to DisplayPort 1.2, the cable will fall back to lower resolution or refresh rate limits. The cable itself is backward compatible, but the maximum performance is determined by the weaker endpoint.

📐 DisplayPort vs. HDMI

DisplayPort is the preferred interface for PC monitors because it supports higher refresh rates and daisy-chaining via MST (Multi-Stream Transport). This cable is DisplayPort to DisplayPort, not DisplayPort to HDMI. If you need to connect to an HDMI display, you will need an active adapter.

Measure the distance from your GPU’s DisplayPort output to your monitor’s input before ordering. For a monitor arm setup or a PC placed directly beside the display, 1 meter is usually sufficient. For a tower on the floor or a wall-mounted monitor with a long channel run, choose the 2-meter variant instead. Confirm that both your GPU and monitor support DisplayPort 1.4 to reach 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 240Hz. The latching connectors prevent accidental disconnection, so press the release tab before unplugging to avoid damaging the port. For multi-monitor setups, DisplayPort MST daisy-chaining requires monitors that support it; check your monitor’s documentation before relying on that feature.
