Thermal Grizzly AMD AM5 Argb Mycro Direct Die

The AM5 Mycro Direct-Die is a water cooler for AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors that sits directly on the chiplets of a delidded CPU. Made of nickel-plated copper, the Direct-Die water cooler offers outstanding thermal conductivity. This is further increased by an optimized structure of the microfins on the top. In addition, compared to a normal water cooler, Direct-Die cooling eliminates a layer of thermal conductive material as well as the CPU’s heatspreader. This significantly improves the heat transfer from the CPU to the water cooling circuit. The lid of the AM5 Mycro Direct-Die is made of CNC-machined polyoxymethylene (POM) and is equipped with one inlet and outlet each in the form of G1/4-inch threads.

The AM5 Mycro Direct Die’s nickel-plated surface is compatible with traditional thermal pastes and gallium-based liquid metals. The nickel forms a barrier layer between the liquid metal and the copper cooler, preventing liquid metal from diffusing into the copper and minimizing alloying. As a result, multiple applications of liquid metal are generally not necessary. For the lowest maintenance system possible, a KryoSheet graphene thermal pad can be used as the thermal interface between the CPU and the AM5 Mycro Direct die. Since KryoSheet pads are electrically conductive, a cover is included to protect the electronic components on the CPU package.

Attention: Removing the heatspreader (“delidding”) of a processor is at your own risk! The manufacturer’s warranty expires when the CPU is delidded! Damage caused by delidding the CPU is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty!

Removing the Socket Actuation Mechanism (SAM) of the mainboard may invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty of the mainboard manufacturer!

Note on Ryzen 9000 compatibility

The AM5 Mycro Direct-Die is, according to internal testing, compatible with AMD’s Ryzen-9000 and 9000X3D processor series (as of Nov 2024).
