Connecting and Controlling the Fans

The F420 RGB Core uses an 8-pin connector for PWM and RGB. To control fan speed and lighting through NZXT CAM, connect it to an NZXT controller (sold separately) or a compatible NZXT motherboard. If you do not have one, use the included splitter cable to connect to any motherboard’s 5V ARGB header and a PWM fan header. In that case, use your motherboard’s software or BIOS for fan speed and lighting control. Note that Zero RPM Mode requires an NZXT controller or NZXT motherboard.

Case Fit and Mounting

The single-frame dimensions are 420 x 140 x 25mm, so your case needs a 420mm fan or radiator mount on the top, front, or side. Because it mounts as a single unit, confirm that your mounting holes are spaced for 420mm fans and that the fan cables reach your controller or motherboard header. The pack weighs 632 g, which most 420mm mounting points support without extra bracing.

Noise and Fan Curves

At full speed, each fan reaches 34.5 dBA, which is audible but moderate for a 140mm fan. Use PWM control to set a fan curve that ramps up under sustained load and stays quiet at idle. The anti-vibration rubber corners reduce vibration noise, but keep the frame firmly screwed down to avoid rattling. Clean the blades with a soft brush or compressed air every few months to maintain airflow and keep noise down.

Confirm that your case or radiator has a 420mm mount and that the mounting holes are spaced for 140mm fans. The single-frame design mounts as one unit, so measure the mounting points and space above and below the frame before ordering.
